Aromatase inhibitors are often prescribed for women after breast cancer. These medications lower the level of estrogen by stopping an enzyme called aromatase from changing other hormones into estrogen. This robs women of the beneficial effects of estrogen. A high percentage of women prescribed aromatase inhibitors stop taking them because of adverse effects.

In fact the data favors continued HRT following breast cancer.

Two key articles that have been helpful in conversations with doctors after my breast cancer:

1. This study of ten million women on Medicare shows that women on Hormone Replacement Therapy had a 19% lower mortality rate than women not on HRT (and, interestingly, a 4% lower rate of breast cancer): https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38595196/

2. This review article showed no greater recurrence of breast cancer in women on HRT: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35594465/

I hope this info will be helpful to other breast cancer survivors.

You're most welcome, Suzanne! And I'd love to be a guest on your show. Let me know if you'd like info on my new book encouraging olders to write their sexy stories. "Write & Sell a Well-Seasoned Romance" launched on August 29th and already folks are using its methods to write their sexy stories.
